Florence

UPDATE: Monday morning here. Donna commented on her own blog!! She has internet service in the lobby of her hotel. Woo hoo!!! All is well and Paris was wonderful. Am I just too weird to keep going back to her blog to check the comments? Old habits die hard. Anyway, it paid off this time, she paid Quiet Life a little visit.

It is the wee early morning in Florence, Italy right now and Donna is finishing the night on her overnight train ride. Janice and I took an overnight train from the South of France to Paris (I think, my memory is horrible). It is a great way to save time. I remember worrying about who was going to be in our sleeping car with us but two elderly Europeans were more afraid of us than we were of them.

Here is a link to the Weather Underground. You can see the current conditions in Florence and get the current time. I love that site and used it often when I was teaching Apologia Physical Science last year.

I'm sure today will be a day of museums and site seeing for Donna et al. I remember well standing in line for the museum in the rain and then shopping in a street market filled with beautiful leather!!

Hi Janet,

This is my second try at leaving a comment...Wasn't it great to see Donna's comment? I, too, have been checking in at QL to see if she'd surface. Sounds like the train trip produced more stories than sleep.

How old were you and Janice when you went on your trip? I've enjoyed hearing your snippets down memory lane. :)

Lynn, we were there in June, 1988. We were 22 yo and travelled with two other girl friends. I think I'll share thoughts from my diary later today. I'm so thankful I kept a daily log of our activities and my thoughts.

Hello to my dear sister and my dear friend Lynn!!!

We just got home from a walk around the cobbled streets of Florence! The girls are resting so I thought I would see what you were doing! What a surprise to see the pictures of Paris and Florence! Yup. We are right here in the middle of it!

We really love the Arch de Triumph at night...and Emma especially liked D Orsey. (no apostrophe on this keyboard)

The D Orsey is filled with the Impressionists!
Glorious.

We became very skilled at using the Metro and bus system in Paris.

We will miss the croisants and bagettes!

Each day brings new adventures in traveling. I am forcing Emma to help with the map reading. They girls would be glad to watch me struggle...but being the homeschooling mom that I am, Im getting Emma involved!
Our kids always have a knack for public transportation!

Thanks for the fun write up, Janet!

Gotta run...

Ciao for now, baybee!

Love,
Donna
