Charles Wesley

I love the hymns of Charles Wesley.

A few of my favorites include:

* And Can It Be That I Should Gain
* Christ the Lord is Risen Today
* Come, Thou Almighty King
* Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus
* Jesus, Lover of my Soul

Read about him here

and here

Are you familiar with the beautiful hymns of Charles Wesley?

Do you have a favorite?

Yesterday we sang "Arise, My Soul, Arise." It's wonderful. I love Wesley's hymns too. Usually a phrase sticks with me for several days after singing one. There is such wealth and such depth in his words.

Of the hymns you listed I think Jesus, Lover of My Soul is my fave.

Janet, I loved the picture of your uncle. To have that connection to your father is precious. What a lovely surprise!

I love them all and long for the chance to sing them with a church.

I miss, miss, miss singing the old hymns.

We went to a wonderful little Methodist church for three or so years and we sang many wesley hymns there :o)

Charles Wesley was quite a prolific and sustaining writer! We still sing these in church! We are getting ready to go from our green hymnal back to the red hymnal we grew up with!
