I'm a Winner

Guess what??

I participated in Carmon's blogathon and I won a $25 gift certificate to her wonderful bookstore. Thank you, Gracie, for picking my name, we'll talk later ;-P

Will you help me with my purchase?

I am currently reading (very slowly)

The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer

Chosen by God by R.C. Sproul

and

Desiring God by John Piper

That gives you an idea of what type of reading I enjoy.

So, give me a few suggestions.

Maybe I should have Carmon just surprise me with $25 worth of books. Wow, that would be fun.

Please don't suggest long Russian novels (hehehe) or the latest book on paedobaptism (jk) or a racey romance novel. These are just not my thing :)

Hope to hear from you.

PS We need to get the comments up and runnin. March 27 is a national holiday and I'm going to copy my sister and see if I can get a record number comments. For me that would mean 10. har har har.

Oooh, Carmon has Chesterton's Everlasting Man ($3.00 under Theology/Christian), which I've been wanting to read for ages.

Hudson Taylor's autobiogaphy ($2.50 Biography) ought to be wonderful.

How the Irish Saved Civilazation, ($4.00 History) by Thomas Cahill is fascinating reading.

If you don't have a copy of Miss Suzy, ($6.50 Picture Books), you've got to buy this - it was my favorite story as a child and if you don't buy it, I will, because the copy I bought off eBay a few years ago is falling apart. ;-)

That's sixteen dollar's worth of books so far. There are several good children's books available, David MacCauley's Motel of Mysteries, some Rosemary Sutcliff, Dorothy Sayers, and Elisabeth Elliot... too many good ones to narrow down!

Well, my copy of Crime and Punishment is only 531 pages-- so it isn't a long Russian novel... ;-)

I'll be one of your ten, if you're one of mine ;)!

I was going to suggest something with Fabio on the cover, but you nixed that idea. (Kidding, for those of you who don't know me!)I guess I have no other suggestions.

Oooh - does she have a copy of "Crunch Cons"? I just read it and it's very good and thought-provoking. I'll be blogging on it next week as a matter of fact.

See ya later!

I hope you get email notification of comments, or these will be lost in cyberspace forever. However, I thoroughly enjoy anything written by Edmund Morris. He writes biographies, and he's a WONDERFUL read! Fun, warm, insightful. His footnotes are great, too (and Charles laughs at me b/c I read them, but they have bits you don't want to miss!)

Enjoy your wonderful win!
