Mackie

May He Rest In Peace

Our (and Nancy's) precious golden retriever had to be put down this morning. His hip and shoulder joints finally gave out. He was 14 years old. He was a gentle old soul and perfect in every way. We will miss him dearly.

For the first time in my life I think I believe in doggie heaven. ;-) Stacey will be glad to hear I finally have my theology right.

When Hannah and I were saying goodbye to Mack I told the vet I thought Mack was the most beautiful and precious and perfect dog in the world. He agreed (nice man) and gave credit to the breed. That made me feel good.

Some day I will own another Golden.....

We love you Mack.
You brought joy in to our lives.

For now, we are grieving.

I'm sorry about your dog. Glad he lived for 14 years though. Our dog Spunky died at 10 years.

Janet,

It is so hard and sad to lose a pet that is loved so much. It makes a house feel different, even when seven people are living in it. I have a feeling that in no time a new dog will be romping around there. You know me, I might even come across one for you, say - in the woods of Prescott :) Just so you know, we are joined by a fine theologian that also shared our view - the one and only C.S. Lewis.

Oh Janet, can I grieve with you?
What a lovely face on your Mackie.
How can dogs leave such a hole when they are gone?

When we put my Polly down I became convinced there is doggy heaven. If not now then at the last trump. Why would God put dogs on this earth and not welcome them into heaven?

I refuse to check this doctrinal statement of belief with Calvin, Spurgeon or John Piper.

I'm crying more for Mack than my poor Oscar...EVERYONE loved Mack. Sorry to hear the sad news. Sounds like you girls had a good time! Some day soon we'll all get together again. We'll have to plan really well. Hugs to everyone. Sue

Aww...I know I'm coming to this blog entry late but I'm also the owner of a Golden...our first and he's but 13 months old and the most loving thing ever. I tear up just thinking about his time to go. ((hugs)) to you. And always remember the Lord loves the animals too...even the lowly sparrow.
