A Munchkin
Sarah tried out for and earned a spot in our school's spring performance of The Wizard of Oz. It is being preformed by the high school kids but they needed 3rd graders to be the munchkins. We are so excited for Sarah. Even if she just skips around the stage singing silly munchkin songs we'll be thrilled. Of all of us in this family Sarah is the one who can sing and dance. I've actually thought seriously about getting her into voice lessons, cuz this momma here can't teach no one to sing. :) I'd love it if her costume looked like the munchkin behind the guy in green and to the left. Isn't it cute?
Do you remember waiting every year for the annual showing of The Wizard of Oz? I do. My friend, Stacey, thinks it came on every spring here in Arizona. Those were the days...no TiVo, good old fashioned waiting. Hmmmm, seems like my kids could use a little of that good old fashioned waiting once in a while.
Donna is a HUGE, GIANT, ENORMOUS, CRAZY fan of The Wizard of Oz. I'm sure the reason I know every song by heart is because of her influence. She probably MADE us sing along and then after it was over I'm sure we had to ACT it out and sing some more. LOL.
Here is another picture, just for Donna.
Enjoy this!

Katie was a person from Emerald City last summer and part of the lullaby league.
Great fun,
Great expierence for Sarah!!!
And tell Stacey, I think the WoO was shown in the spring also.
Sunday night.
Once a year.
I do love this movie :o)
once, in Pictionary, Janet was my partner and the term oil can came up...all I did was mumble oil can and we won, of course we were cheating because there is no talking in Pictionary, but we all got a good laugh
I, too, am a big fan of OZ, you know you've made it as a mother when your kids reference the movie
Nick was part of the yellow brick road in the play, they sang cute songs
I forgot to mention something in the post. None of my kids have seen the movie. tee hee. I have been showing Sarah clips on You Tube and I ordered the movie from Amazon last week. It should be here today or tomorrow.
WHAT!!!
(Sarah will make a great Munchkin and she will steal the show)
Just recently, on the news they showed the orignal munckins from WoO being honored with Stars on the sidewalk of Gramins (sp)in Hollywood!! It was his...it was his...it was history!! ;)
and it was reported that Toto the dog was paid more than the Munchkin actors...incredible
do yourselves a favor and check out the version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
Janet,
I am totally shocked that your children haven't seen The Wizard of Oz.
That is unbelieveable.
Have the seen The Princess Bride?
Donna loves that version. I remember talking to her about it a few years ago.
Yes! I promise they have seen The Princess Bride. I would not deprive them of that!! :)
I have not been able to sit through The Princess Bride! Maybe 'cuz Donna read it so well it paled in comparison!!!!!
WHAT!!!
this is a shocking, shocking day
Thank you, dear Cindy :o)
Congratulations Sarah! Love the Wizard of Oz. Keith used to watch it every Friday with the boys when I first started working...he'd stay home, and they'd all watch Oz...Did you not show them because of the darn monkeys? Kind of scarey? Hope your are having a good visit.
